Not Sure Where to Start With Swimming Lessons?
Every child starts somewhere different.
Every child starts somewhere different.
Starting swimming lessons can come with plenty of questions. Is my child ready? What level should they be in? What if they’re nervous around water? What if they’ve had lessons before but haven’t made much progress?
At School of Little Swimmers, we know there isn’t one answer that fits every child. Some arrive ready to jump straight in, while others need a little more time, reassurance and familiarity before they feel comfortable.
And that’s completely okay.
Confidence comes first
Before strokes and technique, we want children to feel safe and comfortable in the water.
For some children, that happens quickly. For others, simply getting into the pool, putting their face in the water or becoming comfortable with an instructor can be a big achievement.
Understanding where your child is starting helps us place them in an environment where they can learn without feeling rushed or overwhelmed.
What swimming lesson does my child need?
You don’t need to know the answer before you contact us.
Age gives us a starting point, but confidence, previous swimming experience and ability in the water all help us understand what will suit your child best.
That’s why we’d rather learn a little about your child first than expect parents to work it all out themselves.
What if my child is nervous about swimming?
This is something we see all the time.
A new pool, new instructor and new experience can feel like a lot, particularly for younger swimmers. Our approach is about building trust gradually and helping children become comfortable at their own pace.
Sometimes the first step isn’t swimming a lap. It’s simply feeling happy in the water.
Already had swimming lessons?
That’s helpful too.
Tell us what your child has done previously, what they’re comfortable doing now and anything you feel they may be struggling with. It gives us a clearer picture of where they’re at and what they might need next.
Not sure where to start?
That’s exactly what we’re here to help with.
Share a little about your child, their swimming experience and how they currently feel in the water. We’ll take a look and help point you towards the right place to start at School of Little Swimmers.
